Life snippet, life story, and eulogy. What are they?

Aeterna.me is a free to use project where you could add your stories for safe keeping. There are three types of stories you could add to the aeterna.me. You could add a life snippet, life story, or eulogy.

Let’s start with the life snippet.

A life snippet is a term I came up for the aeterna.me for those smaller stories everyone has.

What is the importance of storing them? First, you will leave a hand-print at the project which is aimed to store your stories for as long as possible in the most basic format. Imagen reading a story from your average Joe, who was living 100, 200, 500 years ago.

Adding a story would help others in the future to understand more about the now. For example, take a look at this story aeterna.me. That is a simple, funny story.

What can you learn from it about the storyteller? Okay.. He was playing online games in 2000. The game itself was one of the first MMORPGs, so he is probably a nerd or a geek….He has self-irony because he is telling that story and understands the humour behind it. He is also a forgiving type of person. It is a simple story, but you could get much more from it than just a laugh.

Okay, you might not care about the entertainment of the others. What about showing that all the people, at their core, are very similar? We are all humans with very similar desires, with our own small twists and kinks. If you drop the political and religious “pressures“, and give two random dudes a console and a screen, then they would enjoy hours playing a competitive game together. Throw some pizza, and you will build a friendship…unless that pizza has a pineapple…obviously. The world is still very dived on that particular issue.

Now. Let’s come back to the “Josh“ story. Where is the author from? Lineage is a Korean game, which also has USA and European servers. He is Russian. No bears, vodka and balalaikas were mentioned in the story :) Can you imagine the author being from Israel or Portugal? Yes, obviously…! Two different countries. One didn’t exist before WW2 and the other had colonies all around the globe. I think, almost any story could be told in a way where it would be impossible to get a country of origin. Do you disagree? Then please, go ahead and add your life snippet to the aeterna.me and prove me wrong.

So..back to your motivation. By adding your life snippet, your small story, you might help others to learn that we are not that different at our core. And by that..perhaps there will be a bit less hatred in the world.

Life story.

All of us have seen or have old photos of our ancestors. Some families are good at preserving memories, some are not.

Looking at those photos, did you feel a spark of curiosity?

A life story is a brief biography about you or someone else you know. The project does not require you to include your name, year, and place of birth. Just tell a story about your life to this moment. What can you remember about your childhood? Is there a story about you that you keep repeating when meeting new people? Here is a very motivational story aeterna.me. Perhaps your story would affect someone else’s life or at least make someone else’s day better. At the very least it is a good exercise to stop and look back once in a while.

Eulogy

Here is the hardest part of the project. We write eulogies when someone we love is no longer with us. This time is always hard and full of negative emotions.

That why writing eulogies is hard. You are supposed to write something that would transmit the warmth you feel about the person when your heart is full of sorrow. You should overcome those negative feelings and try to recall positive moments and express how you felt about the person. In my opinion, the eulogy is the essence of the lost person, an imprint of what that person left on you, which you store on a piece of paper.

What will happen with the eulogy you wrote? My experience tells me that it will be lost and forgotten. But it doesn’t have to. Please consider adding a eulogy you have to the aeterna.me . Keep the candle glowing. There are no adverts at the project and no comments. Only a view count. By adding eulogy to the project you are helping to make the memory of the person live on in other people’s minds.
